The defence bonus provided by a city wall is significantly stronger than other defence bonuses.
The city wall visually appears around the base of the city it protects.
The city wall is one of the two rewards for upgrading a city to level 3, the other being resources (five stars).

- Before the fortify skill was introduced, the city wall provided the defence bonus to all units except those unique to special tribes, including the Giant.
